Themes of the conference
A key difficulty in addressing complex research questions about patient outcomes with population-based data has been the paucity of high-quality, comprehensive information on each patient. However, in particular population-based cancer registries are now being routinely enriched with additional data about the patient, the tumour, the care pathway and the healthcare system. The complexity and the observational nature of these data pose many methodological challenges for robust population-based time-to-event analysis.
The conference will focus on three themes of time-to-event analyses, all of which concentrate on population-based data and translational epidemiology:
- Recent methodological developments in competing risks and net survival
- Hierarchical and correlated data in survival and longitudinal analysis
- Causal inference in longitudinal settings with time-dependent confounding
The conference will include world-renowned invited speakers as well as oral and poster communications. At the end of the conference, a panel will summarise the methods presented and the discussions highlighted during the three days and will look to the future in methodological developments regarding advanced time-to-event analyses of population-based data.
Aims and objectives
- To bring together international speakers, experts in their field, to present the state-of-the-art methods relating to each of the conference themes
- To provide a forum for researchers interested in time-to-event analyses to meet informally and learn about advanced methods in the framework of time-to-event analyses on population-based data
- To offer opportunities for networking to foster future research opportunities and collaborations
